Our Church Closure
With lots of gratitude and grief, with much clarity and compassion, Sojourn Spring Branch closes the doors of her ministry as a local church that was planted 10 years ago.
Many thanks to those who at one point joined, served, contributed, and prayed for our church. Your work is not in vain and ultimately brings glory to God. Our last Sunday Gathering is on April 27, 2025.
In short, in the Fall of 2024, when the church gathered and we evaluated our ministry, we could pinpoint a few challenges we had, mainly that there hasn’t been a significant amount of conversions in the past few years. It became clear that the church needed an updated vision frame, and with that came so much freedom. Freedom to infuse change; to stick with a similar model that had served us to build deep community in the past; to continue that, and with some adjustments, expect new results in the future.
In the efforts to revitalize, our church membership was faithful in the initial changes. But ultimately, the process and/or this new direction, was not a fit for some, and they chose to not continue with Sojourn. The majority part of the church, a solid group of members, can revitalize our local church, but understanding that the grief of relational loss coupled with the exciting change of what we can see in our future ministry — this can put us in a vulnerable place in the coming months as we then try to rebuild.
To our church members, as our local church ministry closes by the end of April 2025, be encouraged to visit these churches as you find a group of people to continue living your life in a gospel community on mission. May you sense God’s leading and enter into whatever He has for you. You are a gift and may you carry always the redeeming experiences we lived and shared together.
